I hope this message finds all of our Brothers in good health and spirit. We sure have had our fair share of snow this year, which is evidenced by the number of hours I’ve spent behind the wheel of a plow truck. Fear not, spring is just around the corner. Longer, brighter and warmer days are just ahead of us.

January and February were active months for the lodge. The installation of officers was held on Saturday January 8. Most Worshipful Grand Master of the State of Connecticut Joseph Howard officiated while Most Worshipful Sam Walker Past Grand Master assisted. We performed a Fellowcraft degree on January 20 which was also our annual Grand Lodge inspection night. February 17 the Lodge performed a Master Mason degree with a potluck supper preceding the degree. Please join me in welcoming Thomas Mumford to our lodge as our newest Master Mason.

My brothers, the next few months will be busy as well. We have our annual Ladies Appreciation Night planned for 6:30 on May 7 at the First And Last Tavern on Main St, Middletown. Please contact any Lodge officer to make a reservation for a truly enjoyable evening. We are also participating again this year in Portland’s town-wide Tag Sale. Please drop off any items you may wish to donate at the Lodge on any of the dates listed in the calendar before Saturday, May 14. If you want the Lodge to pick up the items, please contact any Lodge officer and we will make arrangements to pick them up.

As we continue our journey through the year 2005, let us strive to live up to our obligations that the world may be convinced of the good effects of our order. Let our hearts be filled with new hope for peace, harmony and brotherly love amongst all men.

PS It is with sadness that I announce that John Romine, our Senior Deacon, will be moving out of state sometime this year. I would like to take this time to thank John for all he has done for the lodge. His hard work and sense of humor will be missed by all of his lodge brothers. John, good luck with your future endeavors and please visit us from time to time.
